Cirque Bijou – New Day @ Godiva Festival

A group of performers on stage at Godiva Festival, under a summer blue sky. One man is clapping on top of a very high stool, another man is doing a handstand off the stool, while two more performers are making shapes with hoops and props and looking at the camera. In the background is a large audience standing in a field setting and there are blue flags and banners in shot as well

Audiences will have the chance to experience a circus spectacular at this year’s Godiva Festival as part of Coventry’s bid to be the next UK City of Culture in 2021. On Sunday 9 July, Bristol-based company Cirque Bijou will be performing an exciting outdoor show, specially commissioned for the festival by the City of Culture Trust.

Combining daring stunts with live music, Cirque Bijou’s “New Day” will culminate in a daredevil highline walk, accompanied by a Coventry community choir singing ELO’s “Mr Blue Sky”. The show lasts 25 minutes, and will run twice during the day.

My Role

This was my first project with Tilly Lee-Kronick and Cirque Bijou and it was great for applying the arrangements and triggering capabilities of the SPD-SX in a life format as well as working with a wonderful community choir on the track, ‘Mr Blue Sky’.
